about

[A Bandcamp Exclusive Release!]

What was originally written as a personal piece has recently been given new meaning as something with national resonance. Recorded live on Nov. 27th in 2009 at Brooklyn's famed Southpaw nightclub, Miss Fairchild’s singular composition, "I Heard [Live]", newly captures the sentiments of a population in disbelief of their current reality; a reality wherein We, The People have to demand to be treated with dignity, and insist that higher powers take our needs seriously.

lyrics:

i heard you use that word
i know you did
turns out we’ll both get burned
in the end
watch out shout your turn
that’s what i said
then i heard you use that word
(you use that)

words like shame and regret
these words are said but never meant no
out on the line hangin’ wet
so how the heck you like i forget that

you commit the crime of the day
with so much to say and so little time
disappoint your higher nature
those things that you say make me wonder why
(you use that)

i heard you use that word
i know you did
turns out we’ll both get burned
in the end
watch out shout your turn
that’s what i said
then i heard you use that word
(you use that)

wordplay has been at work
it’s clear and plain that your conscience blurred
your wrongs have left me undeterred
i build you up you break your word that

you commit the crime of the day
with so much to say and so little time
disappoint your higher nature
those things that you say make me wonder why
(you use that)

(word)
sticks and stones may break my bones
but words will never hurt me
sticks and stones may build a home
but words will tell the story...
